Stuart Olson Construction site, 1669 East Broadway Vancouver, Tuesday, November 3rd at 10:13pm. Vancouver Police advise that this thief is known to steal tools and materials from construction sites by evading guards. Watch the capture video at sonitrol-canada.com.
Construction site security has been an expensive and challenging task. Many companies are presently forced by their insurance companies to hire guards to watch sites at night and on weekends in an effort to deter vandalism, theft and arson. This expense is easily between $2,000 and $8,000 per month and is ineffective because guards find it difficult to observe all portions of a compound, stay awake and are tempted to participate in thefts. More recently, if they do notice the thieves, they have been assaulted and paint balled.
Joe Wilson, of Sonitrol has a much more effective and efficient way to protect construction sites with Sonavision monitored video. This infrared video system is activated when the site is closed. On detection of heat and movement live video is sent through to one of Sonitrol’s monitoring stations, where a human evaluates the video. If a person or vehicle is viewed, police are dispatched. Police arrive on average in 3.5 minutes to a Sonitrol call because the event has been visually verified as real. Sonitrol’s verified active audio and remotely monitored Sonavision intrusion systems have assisted police in the capture of over 160,000 criminals across North America. Wilson also adds that numerous insurance companies realize that guards are inferior and recommend Sonavision as a replacement to “Night Watchman” insurance clauses.

Sonitrol is the global leader in providing verified electronic security systems. We do not provide conventional motion, glass break sensor alarm systems or recorded CCTV that have a 98% false alarm rate, waste police resources and do not apprehend criminals. Our clients are referred to us by police, security consultants and insurance companies after conventional alarms have failed to detect break-ins or insurance coverage has been canceled due to false alarms or repeat break-ins.
Sonitrol completely supports the implementation of verified-only police response. Our verified systems satisfy police requirements for continued police response. Our very low 3% false alarm rate and police partnership is why we receive a prioritized police response.
